Botanical Forum

For the promotion, popularization, improvement of scientific temper among the teacher community and students as well as overall development of Botany department, D.K. College Botanical Forum, Mirza, Kamrup, Assam was established way back in the year 2019 and since inception, the forum had carried out various initiatives which includes online remedial classes for academically weaker students, mentoring students on various academic issues, skill based and entrepreneurship programmes such as spawn production and mushroom cultivation, field trips to various places of botanical interest, hold online webinar, participated corona relieve duty, monitored departmental wall magazine etc.
Some of objectives of the forum are highlighted as follows:
(1) To study the floristic diversity of adjoining regions as well as important locations of botanical interest in North East India as a           part of Field Visit Programme.
(2) To prepare and monitor departmental wall magazine BOTANICA annually.
(3) To publish an Annual Departmental Magazine highlighting various activities of the department.
(4) Addition and maintenance of the potted plants of the Department
(5) Celebration of important days viz. World Environment Day, National Science Day and others
(6) Renovation and Maintenance of the Botanical Museum
(7) Maintenance of Departmental Herbarium
(8) To document flora within and outside College campus in form of Album of Photographs by organizing photography competition       among students
(9) Capacity Building of Students through Guest Faculty Teaching programme undertaken as fulfilment of MoU with Institution of           Higher Learning
(10) To organize enriching programmes for guidance of preparation for Post Graduate Entrance Examination and other Competitive         Examinations
(11) To conduct professional Career Counselling programmes
(12) To organise Skill based Training Programme for self employment opportunities.
(13) To conduct bio entrepreneurship development programmes
(14) Laboratory/ Industry visit to enhance technical skills of students
(15) To organize outreach programmes/activities in nearby schools and adopted villages
(16)To organize teacher-guardian as well as teacher-student interactive meets to discuss problems and achievements.
