27th July- International Webinar : Report
An international webinar was organised by IQAC, Dakshin Kamrup College, Mirza, as a part of a series of four international webinars on 27th July, on the topic, “ THE SOUTH EAST ASIAN CONNECTIVITY: THE NEW OPPORTUNITY FOR THE NORTH EAST INDIA IN POST COVID RECOVERY”. Dr. Hiranya kumar Nath, Professor, Sam Houston State University, Texas, US, was the esteemed resource person of the webinar. Honourable vice Chancellor of Gauhati University, Prof. P.J.Handiqui inaugurated the webinar.
Dr. Nath Started with where does North east region stand and highlighted on different missed areas. Then he went on to discuss how increased trade would benefit NER. He also stressed on the primary sector products like tea, rice varieties, bamboo shoots, livestock, poultry, fish , dairy products, orchids etc. He also highlighted on the need of service sector collaborations like exchange program for students and faculty, ICT enabled services with South East Asian countries. North East region can benifit itself if secondary sectors like food processing, medical supplies, forest based products, English language skill based service industries, health care services are developed to attract the South East Asian countries.
