An online workshop on 'Basic Technicalities of Photography' was organized by Center for Media Studies in association with IQAC Dakshin Kamrup College, Mirza, on the 18th of August 2021 on the occasion of World Photography Day. The inaugural speech was given by Dr. Gargee Chakraborty, Coordinator of IQAC. In her speech she gave a warm welcome to the spokesperson of the session Mr. Neeraj K Phookan, who is an executive member/treasurer of PCA (Photography Club of Assam) and assistant instructor at 'Pro Vision Imaging Academy' a photography school in Guwahati.
It was a two-hour long session where Mr. Phookan explained the basic features of a camera that one should keep in mind while clicking a photograph like exposure, shutter speed, aperture, iso, etc. For better understanding of the participants, he also shared some of his own photographs and explained how different photographs have different impact depending on the exposure, the balance of light and at what shutter speed the picture was clicked. In the end of the session a half an hour Q and A round was also organised.
Participants from Dakhin Kamrup College along with various other colleges and universities like Lakhimpur college, Turning point institution, Nowgong College, Gauhati university, Royal global university, Pandu college, Abhayapuri College, Arya Vidyapith College, Bhattadev University, etc were present. Certificates of participation were awarded to the participants at the end of the session by host, Shabnam Shahin, Assistant professor of Center for Media Studies.
