Political Science Progressive Society was formed in the year 2004 with major students of the Political Science. The objective of the society is to help the students to attain academic excellence through deliberation. The then head of the department Prof. Dwipen Baishya became the first president of the society. From the time of inception the society has been organising various academic programmes. It is to be mentioned that prior to the formation of the forum also the department organised a number of lecture programmes where some distinguished academicians like Prof. Sanjib Baruah from Bard University, New York, Prof. Gopal Bordoloi from Handique Girl’s College, Guwahati delivered their valuable lectures.

The first endeavour of the society was a lecture programme organised in the month of September, 2005 on ‘World Politics after 9/11’. Phunu Choudhury and Hiranya Goswami were the resource persons. Some of the lecture programmes are as follows:

From the year 2021, the society has started an annual lecture programme in the memory of Arun Chandra Das, the first head of the department of Political Science of the College. Besides the lecture programmes Political Science Progressive Society has been publishing ‘Quest’, a bi-lingual annual publication regularly. Along with this, a wall magazine is also being published twice a year.
